Jessy Kendall was born in Lewiston and raised in the West Sumner/Woodstock area. He moved back to the Lew 10 years back.
“Making mosaics is appealing to me because it seems everyone has some busted pottery or a huge coffee cup collection they want to get rid of. The material is easy to find and it is fun to smash that stuff up more! I have been experimenting with grouts of different colors. I use mirror pieces in my work, so that the pieces are always catching light, reflecting the viewer and channeling attention in different directions. I like the feel of the mosaic medium; ancient, heavy, physical, layered, puzzlish.”
Jessy’s artwork will be on display for the entire month of May. Each piece is available for sale at Guthries.
