With this installment, we will wrap up the 2013-2014 season of The Corner. With packed houses and great stories, it’s been a thrilling run, and so we end with the theme of “Thrill.” Much like Fats Domino, in high school you may have found a thrill on Blueberry Hill (or your local equivalent). Or on a trip to Cedar Point or another amusement park, you may have sought and/or found thrills on roller coasters or other rides. As a competitor you may have felt the thrill of victory, or perhaps the agony of defeat. Or maybe you found yourself in a contest that you actually didn’t want to win, and you hoped to feel the thrill of defeat. No matter what, you certainly have stories about looking for thrills, stumbling upon thrills, finding thrills, or just missing out on thrills. Come to The Corner, put your name in the fishbowl, and you just might get to tell yours. To learn more about how to prepare to tell your story, go here.
NOTE: This is going to be our one competitive story slam of the season. Eight audience members will have their names drawn from the fishbowl, and each will tell a five minute “Thrill” story. The audience as a whole will vote and the top vote-getter will win the mystery grab bag of schwag. It’s going to be exciting. Also, the first five folks to email cometothecorner@gmail.com to give their name and declare their intent to put their name in the fishbowl will be guaranteed a seat at the event, at our tellers’ table. (Use the subject line “I Wanna Slam!”)
