For nearly 160 years, Bates College has been a proud and essential participant in the economy of Lewiston and Auburn. In the 2009 fiscal year, Bates spent $14.2 million locally for goods and services. And every year, Bates attracts as many as 100,000 visitors whose local spending totals up to $4 million.   But this robust college-community relationship could be even stronger. Nearly 2,000 Bates students call Lewiston home — and Bates Night in Town will strengthen the connections, both economic and social, between students and local businesses.  That’s our vision for Bates Night in Town: a way to introduce more Bates students to the finer things in life, Twin Cities-style.
